Unless you’ve been completely avoiding all media, you probably know that tech inventors (among others) are now completely freaking out about artificial intelligence (A.I.).  What you may not know is that last month the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) published a new guide that includes warnings about cybersecurity risks associated with “smart” city technologies.  Of course, “smart” city cybersecurity warnings have been ongoing for years.  Regardless, legislators have supported funding their development with hundreds of millions in federal grants as have other government proponents, most recently the Department of Transportation (DOT).

American opposition to “smart cities” has been ongoing for years as well (see 1234567) so Purdue University promises to keep public feedback in mind when developing its 400-acre “emerging tech fields” district which will include A.I. and other controversial technologies.
